to the official website for the Glenbeigh Festival and Races.
The 2008 running
of the annual
Glenbeigh Horse and Pony Races took place on Rossbeigh Strand
from Friday August 22nd to Sunday August 24th. The races were
the centrepiece of a weekend festival that also included a Fancy
Dress Competition and Donkey Derby on Friday August 31st and Street
Entertainment with a Live Band, and 2 Live Bands (The Celt, followed
by Big Generator) on Saturday Night. The local pubs of the area also
played their part, with
fantastic
nightly entertainment in “The Towers Hotel”, “Ashes
Bar”, “The Red Fox Inn, and “The Ross Inn”.
The Opening ceremony was held on the Friday night with the inauguration
of the Festival Queen. This year was possible
to vote for the Festival Queen via text.
